There’s a certain magic to the Hibiscus Room at Settlers Park Retirement Village. It’s where friendships bloom over tea and laughter, where milestones are toasted with a slice of something sweet, and where age – quite frankly – doesn’t stand a chance.
Take the recent Over 90s Tea, for example. Organised by the always-on-the-ball Social Committee, the gathering was a warm and wonderful celebration of our very finest – those who’ve seen more sunrises than most and still manage to outshine the rest of us.
But let’s be honest – the highlight wasn’t just the excellent spread (although the eats were, as always, top-notch). No, the real showstopper was a guest who arrived in a T-shirt that had the room in stitches.
It read: “It’s weird being the same age as old people.”
And just like that, the tone was set.
Because at Settlers Park Retirement Village, we know that age isn’t something you count – it’s something you carry. And our residents carry it with style, with grace, and occasionally, with a cheeky wink and a T-shirt slogan to match.
Whether you’re 60 or 90-plus, you’re part of a community that doesn’t define itself by numbers. We define ourselves by the stories we share, the gardens we potter in, the bridge games that go on far too long, and the belly laughs that echo down our peaceful lanes.
